Hanging Pictures

Looks like we are staying for a while in the intensive care unit. It's time to make 8208 feel more like home.

We have put up pictures of Drew and the family so the nurses, most of whom have never seen him conscious, have an idea of what he looks like. We have gotten to know the eleven folks who come on rounds now - the attending, the fellow, the residents, the respiratory, pharmacy and oncology teams and charge nurses and support teams. Since all of the folks on our ward have breathing problems (and all the ones we have seen are much older), having a transplant kid makes us different and we get lots of attention.

Drew's fever and bleeding got a bit worse today, so we don't expect to pull the tubes for a few days. Hopefully, we can show lung improvement this weekend and make another run at getting off the ventilator. Everything else is improving, so with any luck he will exit in better shape than he arrived.
