Woooohooooo!
Wooohooo! Welcome, Wanda!
Although statistically questionable, the data shows Drew has had four days of slightly increasing white blood cell counts which have everyone smiling and saying the transplant is starting to work. Combined with another few improvements in measures of kidney function, we have lots of good news today.
Interestingly, Wanda starts her duties by causing problems, as we expected. When the first new white cells appear, they look for things to attack, and they often pick good cells and tissue. It may be that Drew's skin rashes are caused or irritated by the very white blood cells we have so eagerly anticipated. The overlap of radiation symptoms slowly declining and graft vs. host symptoms slowly increasing may make for some uncomfortable days ahead, but Drew is playing the right game now.
Time to break out the champagne...er...steroids, and start helping Wanda to make friends!

Hurrah! It's so good to hear some good news. So sorry for the rashes - whoever coined that phrase you have to take the good with the bad - why?! Sorry for the rash, but keep on multiplying! Dora
A wish called Wanda. Now a rash called Wanda! Hey, we'll take her any way we can get her. She's met her match with Drew, yahoo! Take care Team Llewelyn!
It's wonderful to hear good news.
Wanda is full of herself so Drew found his match.
THANK YOU for keeping us in your life..
Elizabeth "Patrick's" Mom
The Celebration of life! Just like a new baby...does what it wants, when it wants, in its own time and we can just love and nurtur it. We can't rush it. Babies seem to grow in spurts. Hang tight with the birth pains, Drew! Wanda will be grown before you know it!
Wanda and Westbrook will grow up quickly together.
Have a GREAT day!!
Love and prayers,
Pam & Charles
