Keeping perspective

When we recently made comparisons to cancer and Mt. Everest, we didn't know that at that moment, our good friends and rugby buddies from Melbourne, the Inglis family, actually had their thoughts mostly on Everest.
John's brother Mark joined the "wow" people of the world yesterday as the first person to summit Mt. Everest as a double amputee, despite one of his carbon-fiber prosthetic legs breaking on the ascent. You may have seen their comment on the blog about his journey. We visited their family home in New Zealand and saw Mark's picture on the mantle.
It makes even a good day on the transplant ward seem less exciting, although we actually like unexciting days.
Day 7 was uneventful. Starting Week 2 with Wanda.
The story is on CNN today in the US. Look at: www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/05/16/everest.amputee.ap/index.html
